PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

H * A * P * P * Y    B * I * R * T * H * D * A * Y,   K * E * H * I * L * L * A * H !

Kehillah is three years old this month (official date: March 3rd), and since we are all Kehillah, happy birthday to us!

Like any 3-year-old, Kehillah would be delighted to see an outpouring of love, affection and, yes, gifts in honor of its special day. Some suggestions:

New clothes: “Dress up” our prayer books, which were donated by another temple and still “wear” an old bookplate. A birthday bookplate will name you as the gift giver for $36 and make the siddur truly ours.

Keep the party going: Sponsor an oneg for $180, or contribute any amount to the oneg fund. For a specific oneg date, contact Evelyn Simon (call 602-269-7667) – dates fill up quickly!

Secure Kehillah’s future: If you’ve been attending services but haven’t actually joined Kehillah, please do it now. Our official membership dues are lower than you might expect, and we cannot grow without your help.

And finally, show your love by showing up – because what 3-year-old doesn’t like to be the center of attention? Come “create Kehillah” at Friday services and Saturday Torah Talks; at Purim (“Open Minds, Open Hands”, March 20); and at the Interfaith Passover Seder (April 22).

See you at services this Friday!

Sherry

YOM HASHOAH – HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY

SIX MILLION POINTS OF LIGHT

Sunday, May 1st is Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. Please join Kehillah for a very special program, “Six Million Points of Light.”  Rabbi Sharfman will lead this exploration of the Holocaust, developed with our education committee. Through the program we will explore some of the darkness that the Holocaust brought to the world, and some of the points of light that tried to fill the darkness. Because of the nature of this discussion, we suggest that families who wish to bring children who have not yet been b’nei mitzvah contact Kehillah for more information.

The community-wide Yom HaShoah Days of Remembrance observance will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from 7:00 am -7:00 pm at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus. We are seeking volunteers to fill a 15-minute time slot to read names of those who have perished in the Shoah (Holocaust). Please contact Rabbi Sharfman if you would like to participate.

It’s a gift to us all. We are looking forward to honoring your dear ones and commemorating your important celebrations.

With pleasure,

Evelyn Simon, VP for Hospitality
